Privacy Policy
Effective: 2026-10-01 · Version: v3
This page explains what information Skills Wiki ("we", "us") collects when you use the Skills Wiki website, dashboard and MCP gateway, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at aliu@skillwiki.app.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Your email address and password. Sign-in is handled by our database provider; we never see your password in plain text.
- Your plan (Basic, Pro or Enterprise), the skills and combos you turn on, and your settings (for example, Learning Mode or skill suggestions).
- That you agreed to this policy, when, and which version.
- Your country, worked out from your connection or billing address, to decide whether skill suggestions start on or off for you.
When you use Skills Wiki without an account
- A random visitor ID stored in a cookie, so your choices are kept while you browse. Anonymous accounts are deleted automatically after 30 days without activity.
When you connect an AI tool (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, a coding agent or any MCP client)
- Usage records: which tool your AI assistant called, when, how long it took, whether it worked, and the options it passed to the tool (for example, which skill it asked for). We remove fields that look like passwords, tokens or keys before saving. For skill suggestions, we store a scrambled fingerprint (hash) of your request instead of its text.
- Login codes and access tokens for connecting your AI tool, stored in our gateway for 10 minutes and 24 hours respectively. Your Skills Wiki API keys are stored only as secure fingerprints (hashes).
- Skill evaluations: which skill was tested, the test task IDs, a scrambled fingerprint (hash) of each answer and the scores. Never the answer text.
- Combo checkpoints: which combo and step was checked, a scrambled fingerprint (hash) of the draft and the check result. Never the draft text.
When you save a connection or your own API key
- Credentials for services you connect (for example, your own TypeSafe key for skill suggestions) are encrypted before they are stored and are never shown back to you in full.
When you send us something
- Feedback you give on a skill: the rating, your comment, the skill and tool it refers to, the options passed to that tool and a short preview of its result.
- Learnings you or your AI assistant record in Learning Mode (short instructions for how a skill should work for you). These are private to your account.
- Forms: the free AI audit form (your name, email, business details, website and what you tell us about your business) and the enterprise inquiry form (your name, email, company and message).
- Skills you submit for the marketplace: the skill's name, the link to its repository and your email. If we approve it, the skill's content is published in the Skills Wiki marketplace, which anyone can see, so don't include anything private in it.
When you pay
- Payments are processed by our payment processor. We don't receive or store your card number. We keep your customer ID with the payment processor and your plan.
Technical information
- Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and request times). We use IP addresses briefly, in memory, to stop abuse of public forms.
How we use it
- To run Skills Wiki: sign you in, serve the skills you turned on, connect your AI tools, and bill paid plans.
- To keep it safe: prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, and fix errors.
- To improve skills: we review usage records, feedback and test results to find where skills fall short. We may use an AI model provider to summarize usage records and feedback for this purpose.
- To answer you when you contact us or fill in a form.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information. We don't send newsletters or marketing email yet. When we start, we'll send them only to account holders, every message will let you unsubscribe, and you can also opt out at any time by emailing aliu@skillwiki.app.
Skill suggestions
Skills Wiki can suggest which skill fits what you're working on. When your AI assistant asks for a suggestion, the text of that request is sent to TypeSafe AI to choose a skill. TypeSafe does not use it to train AI models, but may keep it to monitor its service for abuse, to produce usage statistics, and as required by law. We keep only a scrambled fingerprint of the request, never its text.
Skill suggestions are on by default, except for accounts in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, where they are off until you turn them on. We work out your country from your connection when you sign up or visit Settings, or from your billing address. You can turn suggestions on or off at any time in Settings. If you add your own TypeSafe key, your requests go to TypeSafe under your own agreement with TypeSafe.
Skill evaluations (TypeSafe AI)
If you run a skill evaluation from your AI tool (Pro and Enterprise plans, with skill suggestions on for your account), the answers your AI assistant writes for the test tasks may be scored by our decision-model vendor, TypeSafe AI. TypeSafe does not use them to train AI models, but may keep them to monitor its service for abuse, to produce usage statistics, and as required by law.
We never store the answer text. We keep only a scrambled fingerprint (hash) of each answer, the test task IDs and the scores. Evaluation results are private to your account: they are shown in your AI tool only and are not published. When we test a proposed improvement to a skill, including a test suite written for your organization, the test answers may also be scored by TypeSafe AI in the same way.
Combo checkpoints (TypeSafe AI)
If your active combo has checkpoints, the draft your AI assistant writes at each step (for example a listing description or a follow-up message) is sent to TypeSafe AI to check it against the combo's rules before the next step. TypeSafe does not use it to train AI models, but may keep it to monitor its service for abuse, to produce usage statistics, and as required by law.
We never store the draft text. We keep only a scrambled fingerprint (hash) of the draft, the step and the check result. Checkpoints follow your skill suggestions setting: they run only when suggestions are on for your account, so they start on or off by the same country rule, and you can turn them off the same way in Settings. If you add your own TypeSafe key, drafts go to TypeSafe under your own agreement with TypeSafe.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the kinds of service providers that run Skills Wiki for us, and only what each one needs:
- Cloud hosting and database (accounts, settings, usage records, forms)
- Network gateway (the connection your AI tools use)
- Payment processing
- Code and skill-content hosting
- AI services: choosing skills (only if skill suggestions are on for your account), scoring skill evaluations and checking combo steps (both only if skill suggestions are on for your account), and summarizing usage records and feedback to improve skills
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect Skills Wiki and its users from fraud or abuse.
Cookies
We use only the cookies Skills Wiki needs to work: your sign-in session, the anonymous visitor ID (30 days) and a cookie that remembers you've seen our privacy notice. We don't use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
How long we keep it
- Anonymous accounts: deleted after 30 days without activity.
- Gateway login codes: 10 minutes. Access tokens: 24 hours.
- Account data, settings, learnings and saved credentials: while your account exists.
- Usage records, evaluation scores, checkpoint results, feedback and form submissions: kept to run and improve the service. We don't yet delete them on a fixed schedule; you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Your choices
- Turn skill suggestions on or off, add or remove your own TypeSafe key, or turn Learning Mode off, in Settings.
- Remove connected services and their credentials in the dashboard.
- Email aliu@skillwiki.app to get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and its data. We'll reply within 30 days.
Security
Connected-service credentials are encrypted before storage. API keys and access tokens are stored as hashes. Our databases are access-controlled, and only our servers can read usage records. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.
Children
Skills Wiki is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the version and date at the top and show a notice on the website.
